Vermejo Ranch

In 2015 the Studio was commissioned to recreate historical furniture from the archive of Vermejo Ranch in Raton, NM. The ranch was originally the largest in the state of New Mexico approaching one million acres.
Ted Turner purchased the preserve where several threatened species were restored including Native Rio Grande cutthroat trout and a wild bison herd. Turner lived in the lodge for a number of years before launching a complete restoration of the property turning it into a luxury lodge showcasing the success of the environmental preserve.

For Casa Grande Lodge, built in 1908, Michael worked from vintage photographs of the interior to recreate original pieces building on the legacy of the property. The work includes hand-carved oak chairs around the much-used dining table (pictured here), sofas and additional elements. The attention to the finer details exemplifies the authentic craftsmanship of Michael Joyce Studio.
